You are suggested to avoid any extensive use of oily cosmetics, sunscreens and hair products. Use oil free products that will not lead to clogged pores. Wash the area affected by acne with a non-medicated soap or mild cleansers. Use always noncomedogenic substances on the skin that will not aggravate the problems of acne further. Remember that excessive scrubbing and washing of the area aggravates the problem. Moreover, do not squeeze or pick the blemishes to reduce the problem and this also helps in healing. Use just enough acne products that could only cover the problem areas and do not overuse the products. Treatment with acne requires time and patience. If the problem of acne persists even after few weeks of application of the OTC products, consult a dermatologist at the earliest.
