Kratom: What is it?

Mitragyna speciosa is also called as kratom. This is a leaf that is used as a drug used for medical purposes. The tree from which this is extracted is a large tree native to South Asia. Its family is associated with coffee.

Usually the amount of kratom used in one dose it about 10 to 15 grams. There are a lot of ways that kratom can be used. Mostly kratom is used by chewing. The leaf can be chewed directly to obtain results. Another way of using kratom is by drinking it as tea. You can get the leaves of kratom and then you can extract the leaves to tar by boiling it in water. The tar that is extracted is used for drinking purposes. The last method is to take it by smoking. This is the minimal effect but some people use kratom by smoking it just like cigarettes. Small dose of kratom can result stimulant and euphoric whereas large doses can become narcotic.

Due to its psychoactive effects, it is used in the places where it grows. The labors in South Asia chew the fresh leaves of this tree in order to utilize kratom. In other places, kratom is obtained by extracting it into water and then evaporating it to get tar that can be used. Smoking kratom can also have some effects, but this is not done often.

Effects:
If a person is taking kratom in a smaller quantity, the results can be euphoric and stimulant. Whereas, if the same person take large amounts of kratom, that can result in calming and narcotic. The effect can be felt for 5 to 10 hours.

Types:
There are different types of kratom that is used by the people these days. The most common and the most effective way of using kratom is by its dry leafs. The powder is used as the main source which can be used in tea or can be taken in by smoking.

In some countries, kratom is not legal. These countries include Birma, Malaysia, Australia, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand. However, in Europe and USA, the use of kratom is not prohibited both in the form of medical use and addiction. This is due to the reason that the risks of addiction of kratom are less. However, if a person takes it daily for a long period of time, this can result in addition to that person.
