What is baby acne? What is baby acne? Many people suffer from the problems of acne during the teen-age period of their lives. However, acne also occurs during the first few weeks of birth in newborn babies. The acne that generally erupts during the first few weeks of birth is known in medical terms as “baby acne”. The occurrence of baby acne is predominantly in the baby boys. The medical explanation of the reasons of occurrence of the baby acne is that it is the cause of certain reaction of the baby’s skin to the imbalance of male androgenic hormones and female estrogenic hormones in the baby’s systems due to the sudden withdrawal of estrogens from the mother after the delivery. The acne at this stage of life does not leave any scar and does not require any medical treatment except a meager medication to reduce irritation and itching. In some of the babies the acne problems prevails until the baby is 4 to 6 months old.
