What is salvia divinorum?

The rising sun between the mountains of Sierra Madre in Oazaca Mexico has just woke me up to speak to you all, its nice of you all to take time to know me, well let me puzzle you about myself:

You come in search to chew meeeeeee
Once I am in I trigger you moodsssss
Feeling of insight and improved touchhhh
Sense of calminesssss

And increased sense of connection with in and with the power around youuuuuuu..

Now you defiantly want to know about me…. Hmmmm
I am Salvia divinorum, I am also known as Diviner’s Sage, ska María Pastora, Sage of the Seers, or simply call me by the genus name, Salvia, I am a powerful psychoactive herb. I am a member of the sage genus and the Lamiaceae (mint) family. I am named by my Latin friends as Salvia divinorum literally translates to “sage of the seers”. In fact my name Salvia is derived from the Latin salvare, meaning “to heal” or “to save”. As I told you I am endemic only to the Mazatec region of the Sierra Madre Mountains in Oaxaca, Mexico, They use me as an aid to prophecy in healing rituals. Hear goes my story…

I grow to well over a meter in height, I have large green leaves, and Hollow Square stems with occasional white and purple flowers.

Interestingly Dr. Albert Hofmann and R.Gordon Wasson (botanists who did not know good Latin) I was found in isolated, shaded, and moist plots in Oaxaca. They bought a cutting of a plant out of Mexico in 1962 and named it Salivia Divinorum (wrong name … bad Latin) it should actually be Saliva Divinatorum. I was not happy with the name because Salvia Divinorum means “ Salvia of the ghosts” whereas Salvia Divinatorum the correct name means Salvia of the priests”. Although there was a rush to publish the identity of the plant the naming debate is more of a trivial footnote than a substantive problem with its botanical name.
I am primary psychoactive constituent is a diterpenoid known as salvinorin A potent κ-opioid receptor agonist .
Salvinorin A , she is unique in that she is the only naturally occurring substance known in me to induce a visionary state this way. I can be chewed, smoked, or taken as a tincture to produce experiences ranging from uncontrollable laughter to much more intense and profoundly altered states. My duration is much shorter for some other more well known psychedelics. The effects of smoking me (salvia) typical last for only a few minutes…..Thank you for taking time to know about me…
